Disconnecting a site
Disconnect from WordPress, reconnect later with a new key, or remove a site from WP Foreman.
Updated Oct 11, 2026
Disconnect
- In the site’s WordPress admin, go to Settings › WP Foreman.
- Click Disconnect.
WP Foreman marks the site as disconnected straight away and stops scheduled backups and refreshes. Backups already taken are kept; disconnecting doesn’t delete any.
Deactivating or deleting the plugin also cuts the connection, but WP Foreman isn’t told, so refreshes and backups for that site will fail until you reconnect it. Use Disconnect first if you can.
Reconnect
Open the site in WP Foreman, click New connection key and paste it into Settings › WP Foreman again. The site keeps its history and backup settings.
Remove a site completely
- Open the site and choose Site settings in its menu.
- Under Remove this site, type the site’s name and click Remove site.
The site disappears from WP Foreman straight away and stops being backed up, checked and updated. If your account has a site limit, the slot is free again. Wait for any running backup, restore or update to finish first.
- Changed your mind? Removed sites are listed under Recently removed at the bottom of the Sites page for 30 days. Click Bring back to restore it with its history, settings and backups.
- After 30 days the site is deleted for good, along with its backups on WP Foreman’s storage. Backups in your own storage stay there.
- You can then delete the WP Foreman plugin from the WordPress site.
API: DELETE /sites/{id}.
